Email Address
To fill out an application, you must have a current, valid email address. The email address you enter below will be checked against our shopper database. Once verified, you will be sent an email with a link to our Application Page. Upon submission of your contact and demographic information, you will be permitted to take our Shopper Qualifying Test. You must pass this test with a score of 7 or better to be eligible for shopping opportunities.

Application Guidelines
In order to pass the Shopper Qualifying Test, you must read and thoroughly understand the information contained in the document Pre-Application Information Guidelines. The 'Pre-Application Information Guidelines' document contains general information and simulates the guidelines that are attached to all of our shop assignments. Questions based on the contents of this document, along with questions dealing with basic spelling, grammar, math, and logic, are included on the test. The entire application process, from filling out the information on the application page, to completing the 10-question test, should take from 20 to 30 minutes. Before proceeding, please make sure you have sufficient time to complete the entire process.

Narrative
As part of the application, you will be required to submit a narrative describing your most recent fine-dining or casual-dining experience. The purpose of the narrative is to demonstrate your ability to relate your experience in a clear and concise manner. Spelling, grammar, and content of the narrative are very important. It is permissible to prepare the narrative ahead of time using a word processor, cutting and pasting the text into the appropriate box on the application page. If you use a word processor to prepare the narrative, do not use any 'special' formatting (such as bolding, italics, etc.). Formatting is not required and may cause spelling errors in the automatic spell-checker routine, thus jeopardizing your application. If you use proper names for staff members, please substitute 'generic' names (like 'Bob' or 'Sue') so that you are not penalized with spell-check errors.

Please Note: A Closer Look requires that all shoppers be at least 18 years of age. By submitting the email address requested below, you are certifying that you are at least 18 years of age. If you are accepted as a shopper, and you are not old enough to purchase or legally consume alcoholic beverages, you must not accept any mystery shopping assignments where an alcoholic purchase is required, regardless of whether or not you’ll be the person consuming the alcoholic beverage. Performing the shop with someone who IS of legal drinking age is NOT allowed and your report submissions WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED. Failure to abide by this age requirement will invalidate your status as a shopper with us.

Note: 'Cultural Bias' is inherent in all tests (just the fact that the test is in English is a cultural bias.) As such, it is difficult to gather knowledge about what a person knows and what a person can ascertain from a given set of information. The test is not designed to be biased for or against anyone. Each question is worded in a clear and precise manner to elicit a clear and distinct answer. It is imperative that you read each question carefully before answering, as some answers may seem to be correct, but in fact, are not. The ability to follow guidelines is a key element in performing a mystery shop and this test is the initial determining step on the road to shopping with A Closer Look.
